testimonial image: Steels Road House
The Steele's Road House involved the renovation and extending of a Victorian era terraced house in Belsize Park area of London. Extensive structural works were carried out by removing internal walls in order to bring more natural light in and connect the interior with the very large garden and making the space feel bigger and brighter.  The new layout design creates views of both the front and back garden throughout the house .

The layout is arranged with the shared living spaces on the raised ground floor and the bedrooms on the lower ground floor where underpinning and specialist waterproofing was done in order to enlarge the spaces and maximize its functionality for a growing family. The two new patios created on both levels extend the interiors outside and connect with the garden. The terracing of the garden softens the view from the bedroom and connects the two patios to both the levels and garden.

The lower ground floor extension is finished with Accoya cladding and Accoya sliging doors creating a contemporary look against the original Victorian details above. The striking red of the handrail modern in design picks up on the red from the original brickwork tying the modern and the old together.

The project took 12 months to complete and made use of all the skills in our team. The bespoke joinery was all carried out by our inhouse team and subcontractors, Dinesen Douglas Fir solid floors were installed and the kitchen was made to match with matching Dinesen boards. Terrazo and marble tiles  from Italy were installed by our in house team as was the Tadelakt finnish to the bathrooms. Our director Eljon managed the project and worked closely with the garden designer and contractors ans well as glazing subcontractors making sure that everyone worked towards achieving the high quality product we aim for and expected by our [...]

testimonial image: A House of Two Halves

Extension and remodelling of a Grade II listed mid-nineteenth century home on a garden square in Hackney, East London. Equal respect for period and contemporary architecture delivers a house of two halves, where cohesion and balance are achieved through a subtle palette and pared back material approach.  The experience of the house is radically transformed with the creation of a new kitchen, dining and living space which opens out on to a stepped garden.

Sitting on a classic period square, the three storey semi-detached villa has been in the possession of the owners for over 20 years. Their brief was to open up the lower ground floor, which had a compact kitchen with living, bedroom and ensuite - all featuring cellular spaces with low ceilings which felt out of balance with the generous upper floors. There was also very little connection to the garden due to a split [...]

testimonial image: The Judd
Completed in 2023, The Judd was and amazing project to be involved with. Lots of clever and bold design ideas came together to form this beautiful house in Tottenham, North London. The numerous materials finished in unique ways really pushed the skills of our team both in low energy design and implementation and bespoke finishes.

The precast concrete cladding to the loft had to all be cut individually in order to achieve the look of full boards throughout, this had to then be adjusted internally so that we could get full tiles in the loft bathroom. Bespoke flutted Valchromat MDF made on site and finished with low VOC Rubio Monocoat products in te loft, 3d tiles to the ground floor cut at 45% angles on the corners to achieve sharp corners and pre fabricated mdf ceiling pannels were some of the visual finnishes.

The low energy design was another great achievment and not usual for this type of house. The air source heat pump was complimented with solar pannels to help with energy consumption. Cork insulated walls and lime plaster were done to all the external walls finished in breathable paint from EARTHBORNE. We loved working with Patricia and Gwen and the team at BVDS architechts and the results speak for [...]

testimonial image: The Venetian Pantry
As graphic designers, Martina and Joe approached their home’s renovation with a distinct vision that combined the rustic aesthetic of Martina’s Italian homeland with a grand, yet contemporary, feel. Working in collaboration with architects Bradley Van Der Straeten, we extended the rear ground floor of this traditional terrace house into two, asymmetrical peaked spaces to create a serene, light-flooded kitchen space for cooking, dining and entertaining.

The earthy, neutral palette evolved during construction, and was inspired by the patina of a section of beautifully crumbly brick wall that Martina and Joe decided to keep exposed, to celebrate the original building. This palette continues into the loft extension, where we created a large master bedroom with dressing area and en-suite, to the couple’s considered, calming [...]

testimonial image: Hawthorn House
Gareth and Richard sought a two-storey extension that transformed the internal living spaces of their North London home and fused seamlessly with the green wilds of their ‘prairie planted’ garden. As professors in design and fashion, their distinctive brief offered very little opportunity for imperfection; honest, appropriate and well-placed materials became the focus, both inside and out. Exemplary craftsmanship was key to achieving the materials-lead impact of Gareth and Richards ambitions. The bare birch ply staircase, the subtle industrialism of the exposed Yves Klein blue steels, and the kitchen’s pink concrete and joinery are all unadorned, celebrating simplicity. The result is a captivating living space that showcases clean, contemporary craftsmanship at its best, whilst honouring the context of its conservation-area [...]View project

Kite House takes its name from the Kite like shape of the roof to the rear extension.
The House is a beautiful 3 storey Victorian  house in the Dartmouth park Conservation area. The modern extension with crisp sharp finishes sits nicely along the charming features of the original house.
Reclaimed parquet floors and Tadelakt plaster make for a warm and cozy master suite. Polished concrete floors are paired with a modern minimalist kitchen to form a modern airy space for the family to gather [...]

testimonial image: Tonal Terrace

We worked with architects Bradley Van Der Straeten to make Zoe and Benedict’s bold and bohemian dreams a reality, and transformed their four-storey home into a series of colour-loving living spaces that reflect the couple’s eclectic creativity. The property had previously been divided into two dwellings, and so needed to be converted into one, fully connected space in order to reinstate the home to its fullest potential.

We removed every internal wall on the basement level, and lengthened it with an infill single-storey extension to create a fully open plan, linear space that connects seamlessly to the rest of the home via a new stair. The upper floors held a trove of period features, which were preserved and made poignant through Zoe and Benedict’s artful use of colour, and considerately offset by the more modern mood of the [...]

testimonial image: Thornhill
Thornhill is a terraced Victorian 3 storey  property Grade II listed which was in need of some TLC . We were employed by the clients to build a rear extension and refurbish the existing property transforming it in to an open plan lower ground floor for the living areas and serene spaces on the ground and first floor for the study and bedrooms. The garden was also completed at the same time with raised beds which were planted by the owners who are pasionate [...]View project

testimonial image: Field House

This double-fronted Georgian home in East London held huge potential for architectural intervention. It was ripe for re-imagination into a glorious family home after five years left empty – and suffering for it. The clients had clear references in mind, which included modern art, the Art Deco era, and the client’s upbringing in Spain. Architects Bradley Van Der Straeten centred their design around a new, triple-height stair gallery that we sensitively constructed through the building’s core. Crafted from metal and timber, it provides continuous visual connections throughout the home while flooding it with natural light. The considered use of colours, materials and traditional features make this home welcome and warm, despite its generous [...]

testimonial image: A House for Sunday Lunch

We worked with Forgeworks on the rear extension of this Victorian terrace, creating a space that feels intimate for two yet caters for family gatherings and partys. As the home is located on within a conservation area, sensitivity in design and build were paramount. The solution was to execute a modern intervention that complements the traditional through texture and quality.

Design-led architecture and materiality were key, and the result incorporates flexible dining bench seating, reading nook spaces and concealed storage all realised in a striking combination of charcoal brickwork, smoked oak woodwork and clean, contemporary joinery. A new lightwell, a corner window seat, and full-height sliding doors ensure plenty of natural light, as well as continuity well into the [...]

testimonial image: Longbrick House

We constructed this striking two-storey extension as a complementary addition to an existing Buckinghamshire home, creating it in contrast to the more traditional aesthetic of the adjacent building, to which it was to be connected by a bridge. Working with architects Bradley Van Der Straeten, the design proposed a whole new volume externally, and seamlessly merged the old and new internally.

This project is defined by its strategic use of simple and select materials. The exposed, long grey bricks are repeated both inside and out, their rugged constant considerately offset by the uninterrupted surfaces of the clean white walls, large terrazzo panelling and monochrome kitchen cabinetry. The extensive glazing and double-height ceilings ensure the space is always bathed in natural [...]

testimonial image: The Coach House

We worked with Kate Jackson Architects to realise their client’s dream of restoring this historical home in Beaconsfield into a versatile family home. The house needed to be extended and refurbished to evolve with the family, accommodating the children as they grow up from babies to young adults, as well as the comings and goings of further family, friends and live-in help along the way. Cohesion across both time and space were essential in achieving this brief.

We maximised the size of the house (within planning) with a rear extension, a first floor and roof extension, an annex building, a garden studio, a pool room, and a portico to connect the annex to the main house. High quality materials and artfully executed joinery give the modern additions a clean, contemporary feel yet remains in tune with the home’s original character. Considered contrasts – such as the striking main stair – celebrate the overall quality of [...]

testimonial image: A House for Writing

The owner of this typical London terrace sought an extension that added a more space to the kitchen and dining area, alongside plenty of soft, natural light. Given that the property is somewhat overlooked, large panes of glass weren’t an option, so we worked with architects Forgeworks to create a striking ceiling form that allowed for an abundance of diffused natural light, while combining a strong use of materiality and visual interest.

We constructed a row of plywood-boxed skylights that sit above two layers of intersecting, crosshatch ply which is seamlessly integrated into the space by way of a perpendicular plywood section. The geometry of this feature is then reflected in the white-painted brick wall, which is set in adjacent Flemish and basket weave bonds. Further built-in plywood features give cohesion to the space, with polished concrete and flush kitchen cabinetry completing the clean, contemporary [...]
